Historic Markers, Incorporated is a grass roots non-profit organization.  We rely on a dedicated Board of Directors, volunteers, student interns and the generosity of our community to produce and maintain the Key West Historic Marker Tour.  The program is a multi-faceted project covering 121 historic sites in Key West.  It consists of a web site (kwhmt.org), free phone tour service (305-507-0300), a walking/biking map based on the sites, and a free phone App (keywest.oncell.com) designed for iPhone, Android, and tablet use.

The program will help you discover the largest historic district of wood buildings in the United States. It is an ambitious program with a goal to research and disseminate Key West’s history and heritage to locals and the 2.5 million tourists that visit the island every year.

Your support of our endeavors would be greatly appreciated and will reach a wide range of project and community needs.  Your tax deductible donation will fund:

  • Historic Site Research (interns, volunteers, and academic consulting)
  • Archival Photo Research
  • HD Photography
  • Phone Tour and Phone App Support
  • Web Site Expansion
  • Walking/Biking Map Printing & Distribution
  • Academic Consultation

Donation funding will not be used for administrative costs or salaries unless specified by the donor.  Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar whenever possible.

Consider investing in a project that will introduce Key West’s history and way of life to millions of regional and international visitors a year.  The direct benefits will support our economy in the long run.  The educational benefits will be with us forever.
